Baptism
Parents who wish their child to be baptized should be registered members of St. John de LaSalle Parish. Attendance at a one-hour Baptismal preparation class, held every 6-8 weeks, is required. Registration is required and may be done online or by calling the parish office at 716-283-2238. Parents need to contact a priest to make arrangements for the Baptism. Baptisms are normally celebrated on Saturday evenings or Sundays, following one of the scheduled Masses.
First Reconciliation
The sacrament of First Reconciliation, or Penance, is celebrated in the second grade. Children must be baptized. Students are catechized for reception of the sacrament during religion classes. Special classes are available for older students.
First Eucharist
Students receive First Eucharist, or Holy Communion, in the third grade after having made their First Reconciliation, usually in May. Students are catechized for this sacrament during their religion classes. Special classes are available for older students.
Confirmation Confirmation is celebrated in the tenth grade. Students must complete a course of study, perform service hours and attend a retreat. High school students preparing for this sacrament are expected to attend Mass weekly. A sponsor is required; must be 16 years of age, confirmed and have received Holy Eucharist.
Marriage Any couple wishing to be married at St. John’s must notify one of the priests at least six months in advance of the desired wedding day. Couples are required to have several meetings with a priest; complete and review a pre-marriage inventory called FOCCUS; participate in The Covenant, our parish's marriage preparation program; and provide the necessary documents for marriage. At the initial visit, the priest can place a tentative wedding date on the parish calendar.

Holy Orders The Sacrament of Holy Orders is the continuation of Christ's priesthood, which He bestowed upon His apostles; thus, the Catechism of the Catholic Church refers to the Sacrament of Holy Orders as "the sacrament of apostolic ministry."
